Most fans of the original Wii Sports should be familiar with the first three games included in Nintendo Switch Sports: Tennis, Bowling and Chanbara. I was lucky enough to get some hands-on time with Nintendo Switch Sports ahead of its launch and I think it’s safe to say that this collection is looking better than ever.

Now, Nintendo is ready to bring that same phenomenon to the Nintendo Switch with a polished new look and a few new games for fans to take for a spin.

Families were gathering around the TV for tennis tournaments and senior citizens were getting up and active for the first time in years to go bowling with their Miis. Folks who had never touched a video game in their lives were lining up to buy Nintendo’s iconic Wii console so they could experience the motion-controlled interactive gaming experience for themselves. As for major 1st Party games, yes Nintendo occasionally put some of their games on sale on the eShop too, usually discounted by around 20%-30%.Īs previously mentioned, I've also enjoyed trying out the selection of free-to-play games on the Switch, and have hundreds of game hours invested across the ones I've gotten into, and not spent a single penny on any of them. When the original Wii Sports hit store shelves it was quite literally a cultural phenomenon.

I still have around 100 games on my Watchlist that I've seen on sale for a price that I'd happily pay. There are always plenty of games on sale, it's just a case of working out the wheat from the chaff, depending on your personal preferences. I research my purchases quite thoroughly to try and avoid disappointment and I've bought 29 games over the last 18 months for a total of just under £70, ranging from big releases such as Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Metro: Last Light Redux, highly regarded indies such as Bastion and The Amnesia Collection, lesser known 'gems' like Woven and Horace, and a few cheap and cheerful titles for just a few pennies too. I've taken the all-digital route so can't really comment on physical releases, and I'm following a 'gaming-on-the-cheap' philosophy with my Switch so I only buy games at their lowest sale price on the eShop, or free-to-play games, and I try out a few free demos every now and then.
